A Day In The Life Of Heavy Water

Saturday morning, not a soul is awake, to hell with the big words spoken the previous night about meeting up at 9 (Yes, 9 in the morning !), the night seems to have just started for Heavy Water. With the drinking session going on till 4 the previous night, in the pretext of "discussion" about the music, it isn't much of a surprise that the sunlight managed to break through even before the dawn for the guys of Heavy Water.

10:30 in the morning, Bolin's landline rings. Well, his cellphone is as good as dead at this time on a Saturday morning. Naocha answers the phone and guess who was at the other end of the line! Yes, it was Megho, "Naocha, is Bolin still sleeping?" comes the prognosticating question. Bolin, by this time was expecting the call, plays an ancient trick of his, instructs Naocha to answer "Yes, he is in the bathroom !". Yeah..nicely done "Bols", that was a good one!

Early out of bed has never been a cup of tea for Abu anyday. And on a saturday morning after a good dose of "knockout drops", you must be kiddin ! But not today, as the cellphone rings under the pillow. "Hey what time are you reaching, its already 10:45?". "Ummm..I'm almost ready, will be there in another 15 minutes". Well, everybody knows that it meant 45 minutes and so did Megho.

11:45, Bolin, in his usual shorts and the blue Nike tee reaches Megho's place with his Iron Cobra, on his Ford Fusion, which looked like it had just won a cross country rally across the Mojave. Ok! One down one to go ! Not very long after that, Abu finally arrives at Megho's place in a state of sleep, barely managing to hold the guitar, the GT8 processor and the backpack. Great! So we have Abu, Bolin and of course Megho who has already plugged in his PRS but where is the vocalist and the bassist?

Head into the kitchen and you find Mocha and Amarzyt busy making their breakfast, trying to rush through as they hear the amplifiers being switched on.
12:15 and as usual, much beyond past the agreed time, everyone's finally set to start the jam session. Well "everyone", except Bolin, who seems to be taking forever to fix up his drum kit. Its a tough job to be a drummer, eh! Another 20 minutes of the saturday afternoon and we are all good to go at 12:35.

Things kicked off with a warm up round of Rock Bottom and then straight into the setlist for the next show. Much to the antipathy of the next door neighbours we continued to crank up the volume on the amplifiers. All seems to be going smooth, except for a few smoke in between songs. And during one such break, Bolin, on his way back from the loo, came out with something and guess what? Some left over booze from last night! And as though, this was the reason why the feel of the songs was missing and the right note was not hit, the bottle immediately became the center of attraction and received a great deal of attention from all, although the attention didn't last too long with five thirsty musicians around. Back to the music and we continued to excruciate the neighbours with the high voltage music.

2:30 and its lunch time! And it didn't take too long to finish that too.
After a smoke or two, we settled down to complete the remaining practice session without too many distractions.

6:00 and its pack up time! And somebody asked "What next?"

"...lets go get some booze....!!"

Good writeup Abu. At last someone actually thought of documenting our standard practice days :)
